Elevate Your Fourth of July with Frio Beer

Summer is in full swing, and that can only mean one thing: Fourth of July is right around the corner. Whether you travel to experience the great outdoors, or host a backyard barbecue and pool party at home, we’ve gathered some ways you can use the smooth, refreshing taste of Frio Beer to elevate your celebration and make Independence Day memories that’ll last for years to come.

What to Serve: Food Pairings that Go Best with Beer

It’s no secret that the Fourth of July is a time to celebrate all of the freedoms we as citizens hold dear. And that means cracking open a cold beer (or two or three). And since the holiday is the hottest of the year, your loved ones and party guests will likely be reaching for a beer for something refreshing and cold. Before you fill your cooler with ice and load it up with Frio Beer, consider some of the best food pairings to go with it.
Hot Dogs: Can you really say you’ve celebrated America’s birthday before you’ve downed at least one frankfurter? Depending on your topping choices, you could really pair a hotdog with any beer you like.
A unique twist on the classic hotdog, a Mexican hotdog is topped with pico de gallo, avocado cream, cilantro, lime, and sometimes cheese. Both the pico de gallo and cilantro give them a refreshing taste, making them the perfect pairing for a lightweight, refreshing Frio Light. The best part? Since the beer is light, you’ll have more room for hotdogs. We call that a win-win.
Hamburgers: Much like its hotdog counterpart, hamburgers scream classic 4th of July. Again, toppings really make or break the pairing with this one, but we find burgers are an opportunity to enjoy a beer with a little more depth. We’d recommend a Frio 6.0 Pilsner Michelada. Not only are they great for beating the summer heat, they pair beautifully with burgers, and spice your meal up a notch.
Here’s how to make it:
  • Frio 6.0 Pilsner, chilled
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch cayenne
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 pinch celery salt
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 2 dashes worcestershire sauce
  • 2 drops tabasco sauce
BBQ Chicken: Looking for a recipe that combines chicken with everyone’s favorite beer? Check out our recipe for beer can chicken. It’s easy, it’s flavorful and moist, and it’s a cooking technique that’s sure to keep your guests talking. You’ll just need a can of Frio Beer, a small chicken, a grill and some spices.
Seafood: Fortunately, thanks to its delicate and light flavorings, seafood is one of the easiest things to pair with alcohol. You don’t want to overpower the food, so we’d suggest something light and citrusy–think of it like adding a squeeze of lemon to your fish. Frio Light beer is a great way to enhance the flavor of your seafood without feeling too heavy.
Corn on the Cobb: Here’s one for the veggie lovers! This vegetable staple is a must at any classic Fourth of July celebration. It’s a great way to open up the grill and get messy while you eat it. It’s also the perfect excuse to enjoy corn another way: grilled with Frio Light beer. It’s light and crisp taste will perfectly compliment the sweetness of the corn without wrecking your palate.

Beer and Game Pairing: Slip N Slide

Now that you’ve settled on your food and beer pairings, we couldn’t let you go without sharing the ultimate Fourth of July party game. With just a tarp and a hose, you can set up an adult slip n slide in the yard and create fun that’ll last for hours. Turn it into a drinking relay race game, or make a contest to see who can slide the furthest. You can also add some soap bubbles for some extra fun. Be sure to have your camera on hand so you can capture the hilarious moments that unfold!

Three Cheers for Freedom: Celebrating July 4th with Frio Beer

Turn the Fourth of July celebrations up a notch with food and beer pairings for your entire guest list. Whether you’re spending time by the pool, heading out on a camping trip or just kicking back with friends and food at home, Frio’s brews come highly-rated and pair perfectly with all of the holiday’s festivities.
